After living in various cities in arizona and california, he formed a rock band called "the get up kids" in 2001 and was again born in tucson, before moving to california in 2002. He continued to live in both states, and in 2004 founded his own rock band called "the new find" with friends. The band had its first album released in 2006 and began performing in california. In may 2004, he played his first major show in Los Angeles, and the following month he was able to secure a space in the Los Angeles arts district to play.
